O’Day, who has a 1.54 ERA this season, is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career. The 32-year-old said the Orioles have only sent out some “feelers” at this point, so no substantial talks have taken place.
“They’ve expressed interest. I know they like me as a pitcher and as a person, so yeah, I’d love to come back if they’d like to have me back, so we’re going to continue talking about that. I’ve had a good run of things the past four years and I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t keep talking about it,” O’Day said.
With Zach Britton sidelined due to a lat injury, O’Day has converted four saves over the past two weeks. It’s possible that someone could give him a shot as a closer. Either way, with a 1.92 ERA over the past four seasons, he figures to do very well on the open market.
