Matt Harvey likely to make one start in NLDS

He stopped short of making it official, but Mets general manager Sandy Alderson offered a strong indication Tuesday in a chat with reporters that Matt Harvey will be limited to one start in the club’s upcoming NLDS matchup with the Dodgers.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York suspects that one Harvey start would be in Game 3, with Jacob deGrom taking Game 1 and Noah Syndergaard going in Game 2.

Harvey pitched into the seventh inning Saturday against the Reds after telling Mets management that he wanted to loosen the reins on his Scott Boras-recommended workload restrictions.

He’ll make an abbreviated start Saturday in the Mets’ final regular-season series to get properly tuned up for the Division Series.

It’s not clear what the plan will be if the Mets advance to the NLCS.
