David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves have hired former major league pitcher Mike Maroth as their minor league rehab pitching coordinator at the club’s player-development complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Maroth, 38, spent the previous four seasons as a coach in the Tigers’ minor league system. The lefty hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2007 and last pitched in the minors in 2010. Over parts of six seasons in the majors, Maroth compiled a 5.05 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP and a 443/262 K/BB ratio in 918 innings.
