Adam Jones day-to-day with back inflammation

The Orioles completed a three-game sweep of the Nationals today, but they did it without All-Star center fielder Adam Jones, who hasn’t played since Sunday due to back spasms. The good news is that it shouldn’t keep him out much longer.

According to Rich Dubroff of, Jones underwent an MRI which showed only inflammation in his back. He’s considered day-to-day. Gerardo Parra has been covering center field in his absence.

On the strength of three straight wins, the Orioles are an even 76-76 on the year and 3 1/2 games back of the Astros for the second Wild Card spot in the American League. The odds are long, but they still have a shot.
