One-and-done games are not exactly the best way to decide anything in baseball, but the Triple-A championship works that way. And the Fresno Grizzlies won that one, beating the Columbus Clippers 7-0 in El Paso last night.
Chris Devenski was dominant, striking out nine in seven nearly-perfect innings. Meanwhile, Grizzlies’ batters knocked Columbus starter Ryan Merritt out after two and the rout was on.
The Grizzlies were in their first season as the Astros’ top affiliate. The Clippers are the Indians’ top club.
