Video: Albert Pujols passes Manny Ramirez with 556th career home run

Albert Pujols sure likes Minute Maid Park.

The veteran slugger went way deep off Astros starter Lance McCullers in the top of the first inning Tuesday night in Houston for his 36th home run of the season and the 556th home run of his illustrious 15-year major league career.

The big fly pushed Albert past Manny Ramirez for sole possession of 14th place on the all-time home run leaderboard. Watch it soar up near the train track in left …

Pujols has 50 career home runs against the Astros, the most of any player ever. And that doesn’t include some of the postseason bombs he hit against Houston during his time with the Cardinals.

The Mets have had a lot of injuries in their outfield. How many? So many that they’re bringing in Matt Kemp, who they just signed on a minor league deal. Hey, why not? He’s functionally free.

Kemp was released by the Reds earlier this month after batting just .200/.210/.283 over 62 plate appearances. While he was a pretty useful player for the first half of the 2018 season for the Dodgers, the odds of him making major contributions to the Mets this year are probably about the same odds there were on Adrián González making an impact when the Mets signed him last year. But again: what’s the harm?
