That’ll be a wrap on Nate Karns‘ impressive 2015 season.
Per beat writer Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune, the Rays have officially shut down the 27-year-old right-hander with a mild forearm strain. Karns doesn’t think the injury will require surgery and he was able to throw a simulated game Tuesday without issue. This is just a case of the Rays playing it safe.
Karns registered a 3.67 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 145/56 K/BB ratio across 147 innings this season.
Tampa Bay has a crowded and talented starting pitching depth chart, but he should have a rotation spot all locked up for 2016.
