Look out, Zack Greinke.
Jake Arrieta is coming hard after that 2015 National League Cy Young Award.
The right-hander struck out 11 batters and allowed just three hits over nine shutout innings Tuesday night against the Brewers to earn his 20th win of the season. Arrieta has a 0.48 ERA over his last 10 starts and a 1.88 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 220 strikeouts in 31 total starts this year.
Arrieta needed a season-high 123 pitches to finish off his shutout of the Brewers on Tuesday at Wrigley Field and he’s now 39 1/3 innings beyond his previous career-high, but none of that seems to matters.
The 29-year-old looks as sharp as ever and is lined up to take on the Pirates in the National League Wild Card Game.
October is going to be nuts.
