Albert Pujols carried a career-high 0-for-25 hitless streak into his fourth-inning at-bat Saturday night at Target Field and then jokingly asked for the baseball to be preserved and authenticated when he singled through the left side of the infield.

Twins starter Mike Pelfrey was confused at first, then seemed to get the joke, and then obliged the request.

It made for some good theatre in the second half of a doubleheader that Anaheim won 5-2. The Angels also took the first game Saturday and are still very much alive in the American League Wild Card race.
