Lance Lynn had another clunker start for the Cardinals

For the second time in his last three starts Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn failed to make it out of the fourth inning, walking six batters and allowing three runs in 3.1 innings against the Cubs today.

Lynn previously allowed six runs in 2.1 innings against the Cubs on September, although in between those disastrous outings he threw a six-inning, three-run “quality start” versus the Reds.

Combined over his last seven starts Lynn has a 5.35 ERA and more walks (20) than strikeouts (19) in 32 innings, which might be enough to get the pitching-rich Cardinals to reconsider the scope of his postseason role. He’s been a dependable, durable starter for the Cardinals since 2012, but Lynn has looked very shaky lately.
