Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki suffered a crack in his left shoulder blade in a collision with teammate Kevin Pillar last Saturday. The early word was that he could return in 2-3 weeks, but we should have a better idea about his timetable soon.

According to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com, Tulowitzki left the team on Thursday to see a specialist about the injury. He’s now five days removed from the injury, so doctors could get a better read on things if the swelling has gone down. Still, it sounds like he’s a ways off from playing baseball again. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Thursday that Tulowitzki is feeling better, but still has trouble lifting his arm.

With Tulowitzki and Devon Travis both sidelined, the first-place Blue Jays are currently relying on Ryan Goins at shortstop and Cliff Pennington at second base.
