Some potentially bad news in Pittsburgh, where the Cubs are taking on the Pirates.
In the top of the first inning, Chris Coghlan of the Cubs reached first base on a fielder’s choice. The next batter, Anthony Rizzo, grounded to second. Kang, at short, was at the bag to turn two. Two were, indeed, turned, but Coghlan’s hard slide to take Kang out took him out, buckling his knee. Kang had to be helped off the field with what looked to be a serious injury.
Kang has been a godsend for the Pirates this season, hitting .287/.355/.461, splitting time between third base and short. If this turns out to be a serious injury it will be a big blow to the Buccos.
