Everything keeps coming up New York Mets.
Breakout rookie starter Noah Syndergaard delivered seven innings of one-run, two-hit ball and Yoenis Cespedes launched yet another home run as New York defeated the host Braves 6-4 on Saturday in Atlanta. That’s now six straight wins for the Mets, who increased their division lead to 9 1/2 games with the Nationals yet again taking a loss — Washington’s fifth straight defeat.
Syndergaard was skipped on his last turn through the Mets’ rotation as a way to limit his overall workload, and that extra rest can sometimes throw a pitcher off. But the young right-hander looked as sharp as ever in striking out eight batters and lowering his season ERA to 3.20. He also boasts a shiny 1.10 WHIP and 137/30 K/BB ratio in 129 1/3 frames this season.
Cespedes has 16 home runs and 41 RBI in 39 games since the trade.
