This week’s big American League East showdown will have to wait for one more day, as Thursday’s game between the Blue Jays and Yankees was postponed due to rain in the New York area. Thursday’s scheduled starters, David Price and Luis Severino, have been pushed back to what will now be the series opener on Friday night.

Thursday’s game will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Saturday. Marco Estrada and Marcus Stroman will pitch for Toronto while New York will counter with Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda. R.A. Dickey and Masahiro Tanaka will meet in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Jays (79-60) currently hold a 1 1/2 game lead over the Yankees (77-61) in the AL East.
