Reds lose Kristopher Negron to season-ending shoulder injury

Reds infielder/outfielder Kristopher Negron hurt his left shoulder making a diving catch in Tuesday’s game and the team announced that he’ll miss the remainder of the season following surgery to repair a torn labrum and fractured scapula.

That’s an ugly injury and robs Negron of a chance to impress the Reds enough down the stretch to secure a spot on the 2016 roster.

After a strong showing as a 28-year-old rookie last season he hit just .140 in 43 games this year, but Negron could find a fit as a bench player thanks to the ability to play almost anywhere defensively.
