Marlins ace Jose Fernandez made it through another bullpen session on Wednesday without experiencing any discomfort in his right biceps and remains on schedule to return to Miami’s starting rotation Saturday in the second of three games against the visiting Nationals.

Fernandez has been on the disabled list since August 8 with a right biceps strain and he missed 13 months before that following Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
The 23-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.30 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 53/10 K/BB ratio in 43 innings (seven starts) this season for the Fish.
He’ll try to play spoiler against the Nationals, who are currently six games back of the Mets in the National League East standings.
