Dodgers manager Don Mattingly says Julio Urias won’t be called up in early September

There has been external discussion about the Dodgers calling up 19-year-old left-hander Julio Urias when rosters expand on September 1 to serve as a shutdown reliever for the final month of the 2015 regular season. But manager Don Mattingly is taking some of the gas off that particular pedal

That could simply mean that the Dodgers are going to wait until the second week of September.

Urias, rated a top-10 prospect by Baseball America,, and Baseball Prospectus ahead of the 2015 season, has registered a 3.21 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 80/16 K/BB ratio in 70 innings this summer between three different levels of the minor leagues. He is currently stationed with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.
