Rockies designate Rafael Betancourt for assignment

MLB.com beat reporter Thomas Harding shares the announcement …

Betancourt underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in late 2013 and did not make an appearance at the major league level in 2014, but the Rockies invited him to camp this spring and he made the Opening Day roster after a strong showing in the Cactus League. Now the 40-year-old reliever hits the waiver wire having registered a 6.18 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 40/12 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 regular-season innings. The strikeout-to-walk clip might draw attention from other teams, but this could be Betancourt’s swan song either way.

Longtime Angels and Cardinals outfielder Jim Edmonds shared on his Instagram story that he is being tested for coronavirus.

The four-time All-Star, who now works as a broadcaster for Fox Sports Midwest, has not posted an update on the results of his test.

If you want to learn more about COVID-19 or think you might need to be tested, give the CDC’s site about the virus a read. Informing yourself is the most important step. Washing your hands and staying home, if possible, is the best way to protect yourself.
