Giants manager Bruce Bochy is hoping to get second baseman Joe Panik back from the disabled list during the first week of September, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Panik has been out since August 3 due to inflammation in his lower back.

Panik was hitting .309/.374/.443 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 423 plate appearances prior to the injury. The Giants were among the teams interested in Chase Utley, who has since landed with the Dodgers. In Panik’s absence, the Giants have had to rely on Ehire Adrianza and Kelby Tomlinson.

On Monday, the Brewers unveiled a familiar logo and new jerseys to help celebrate their 50th anniversary as a franchise. They kickstarted it with a video:

Then they showed various members of the club, including Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura, modeling their new uniforms, which featured the familiar ball-in-mitt logo.

The Brewers are not the only team to to back to a classic. The Padres are bringing back the brown as well. Two very good choices.
