First overall pick of this year’s draft, Dansby Swanson, is playing for the Hillsboro Hops in the Diamondbacks organization. Last night he hit his first professional homer:

He’ll certainly hit more. But he may not look better doing it. Those
orange red uniforms? Those were tribute unis to the Portland Mavericks, the independent team from the 1970s which was owned by Bing Russell and counted actor Kurt Russell and “Ball Four” author Jim Bouton as players. A closer look at the look:
