All-Star Jason Kipnis rejoins Indians after shoulder injury

All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis is off the disabled list and back in the Indians’ lineup after missing the past two weeks with a shoulder injury.

Kipnis played through the injury for much of the season before deciding to take two weeks off, which the Indians hope will help keep him productive down the stretch.

Before the DL stint he batted .326 with 43 total extra-base hits and an .878 OPS in 101 games.

In his absence Cleveland used Jose Ramirez to fill in at second base, but now the Indians can get an extended look at their long-term, highly promising double-play duo of Kipnis and rookie shortstop Francisco Lindor.
