Rockies demote Eddie Butler back to the minors

They’ve been incredibly patient with him to this point, but the Rockies have finally/mercifully demoted rookie right-hander Eddie Butler back to the minors according to Thomas Harding of

Butler was a consensus top-100 prospect coming into the season, but his numbers in the upper minors haven’t been particularly strong and he was mostly a mess for the Rockies. Butler started 16 games, posting a 5.90 ERA with nearly as many walks (42) as strikeouts (44) and 12 homers allowed in 79 innings.

Opponents hit .322 with a .407 on-base percentage and .546 slugging percentage off Butler, who also went 3-10 while failing to go past six innings in any of his 16 starts.
