Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings returns from knee surgery

Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings is off the disabled list and back on the active roster two months after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

Jennings is making $3.1 million this season via arbitration and the 28-year-old former top prospect has largely underwhelmed in the majors, so his performance down the stretch could determine if he has a future in Tampa Bay.

Jennings is a career .248 hitter with a .721 OPS, but when healthy adds to the mediocre offensive production with good speed and defense.
