Marlins ace Jose Fernandez goes back on the disabled list

As expected the Marlins have placed right-hander Jose Fernandez on the disabled list with a strained biceps muscle.

For now the injury is being painted as positive news in that Fernandez was spared from significant elbow problems shortly after his return from Tommy John surgery, but it would seemingly make sense for the Marlins to simply shut down their 23-year-old ace until 2016.

Fernandez made seven starts between DL stints and looked every bit like his dominant pre-surgery self, going 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA and 53/10 K/BB ratio in 43 innings.

Here’s hoping the initial optimism about this current injury being a minor one proves accurate.
