The Phillies announced that the club has acquired infielder Tyler Pastornicky from the Rangers for cash considerations. He’ll report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and serve as minor league depth.
Pastornicky, 25, has split his season between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers organization. He compiled an aggregate .281/.322/.366 batting line with one home run and 24 RBI in 329 plate appearances. He has mostly played middle infield during his career but can play third base and in the outfield in a pinch.
Pastornicky spent parts of three seasons in the majors with the Braves between 2012-14, but posted a meager .608 OPS in 268 PA.
