The Dodgers have placed pitcher Carlos Frias on the 15-day disabled list due to tightness in his lower back, Eric Stephen of SB Nation’s True Blue LA reports. Frias had been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, but the move to the disabled list voids that option.
Frias threw a perfect first inning in his start at Triple-A on Wednesday but left after “feeling something” in his back. The right-hander has made 12 starts and two relief appearances in the majors for the Dodgers this year, putting up a 4.39 ERA with a 40/24 K/BB ratio in 69 2/3 innings.
There is no timetable for his injury, but Frias could rejoin the Dodgers and serve out of the bullpen as a long man when rosters expand in September.
