Chris Heisey released by the Dodgers

Veteran outfielder Chris Heisey has been released by the Dodgers after spending most of this season at Triple-A.

Heisey spent five years as a part-time player in Cincinnati before being traded to the Dodgers in December, but appeared in just 17 games for Los Angeles. He hit .236 with 14 homers and an .836 OPS in 63 games at Triple-A and the 30-year-old could latch on elsewhere as a backup outfielder down the stretch.

Heisey is a career .246 hitter with a .717 OPS in 560 games as a big leaguer and has logged more than 500 innings in all three outfield spots.
