White Sox call up Klay Thompson’s brother, outfield prospect Trayce Thompson

White Sox prospect–and brother of NBA star Klay Thompson–Trayce Thompson has been called up from Triple-A to make his MLB debut.

Thompson was a second-round pick in the 2009 draft out of high school and has logged more than 3,000 plate appearances in the minors, hitting just .241 with a .319 slugging percentage and .429 slugging percentage.

He’s spent this season at Triple-A, batting .260 with 13 homers, 11 steals, and a .744 OPS in 104 games as a 24-year-old.

He’s never been able to post strong batting averages, which holds Thompson back as an overall player, but he has 20-homer power and 20-steal speed along with the ability to play all three outfield spots defensively.
