Rangers right-hander Yovani Gallardo was knocked around for five runs over six innings tonight against the Yankees, but he could still be moved before Friday’s non-waiver trade deadline.
CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reports that Gallardo is drawing interest from five teams, with the Cubs, Blue Jays, and Dodgers being the “most aggressive.” The Yankees and Giants are also said to be in the mix for the impending free agent.
The 29-year-old Gallardo has had a nice year overall, posting a 3.39 ERA and 84/48 K/BB ratio over 127 1/3 innings. However, he’s not going into the trade deadline on a high note, as he has now allowed five earned runs in three straight starts. The Yankees likely weren’t impressed by tonight’s outing, but they could sure use some rotation depth after losing Michael Pineda to the disabled list today.
