The Angels, and others, are taking a look at David Murphy


What a difference a year makes for David Murphy. Last year I watched him play in the Triple-A playoffs for the Columbus Clippers. He didn’t seem too pleased to be there in September as opposed to the big leagues. This year: .299/.347/.443 with five homers for the Indians.

That has him drawing some interest on the trade market:

Murphy, who is 33, is the quintessential bat-at-the-deadline guy, as he’s likely not a big part of the Indians’ future and looks good to a contender even if he’s playing over his head. He won’t cost a lot.
