The Yankees may call up pitching prospect Luis Severino as early as next week, the YES Network reports.
The 21-year-old has hit the ground running since earning a promotion to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre near the end of May. In 38 innings with Double-A Trenton, he posted a 3.32 ERA with a 48/10 K/BB ratio. With Scranton, he’s compiled a 2.11 ERA with a 40/17 K/BB ratio in 55 1/3 innings.
Severino entered the season was ranked the 23rd overall prospect in baseball according to MLB.com. He also earned a #35 ranking from Baseball America and #51 by Baseball Prospectus.
