Giants left fielder and leadoff man Norichika Aoki has been out since June 20 with a fractured right fibula, but Alex Pavlovic of reports that he could come off the disabled list and rejoin the lineup as soon as Friday.

Before that happens Aoki will need to avoid any issues on a minor-league rehab assignment, which is expected to includes games Wednesday and Thursday at Triple-A. Pavlovic notes that Aoki convinced the Giants he was ready for the rehab stint by running the bases without any problems Monday.

Aoki was having a fantastic first half at the time of the injury, hitting .317 with more walks (23) than strikeouts (17) and a .383 on-base percentage in 67 games after leaving the Royals for the Giants to sign a one-year, $4.7 million deal as a 33-year-old free agent.
