Outfielder Carlos Beltran could rejoin the Yankees on Saturday, manager Joe Girardi said, via ESPN’s Mike Mazzeo. He was eligible for activation on Saturday, but with a day game on Sunday following the night game, it sounds like the Yankees are simply being judicious.
The 38-year-old veteran has been out since the end of June with a left oblique injury. In 262 plate appearances prior, Beltran hit .260/.309/.430 with seven home runs and 30 RBI. He is still under contract with the Yankees through 2016.
