MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez has been all over this story for years, and he is first here too …
Source: Bill Stoneman will become the #Angels‘ interim GM, with Matt Klentak basically serving as his No. 2. No Bud Black.

Stoneman was the Angels’ general manager in 2002, when the the franchise won its last World Series championship. He had been working in an advisory role for the past couple of seasons.
Klentak was a Jerry Dipoto hire, and it would have been pretty awkward if he was promoted into Dipoto’s job given the reports that Dipoto lost a power struggle to manager Mike Scioscia.
Gonzalez believes the Angels may open a wide general manager search over the offseason.
