Blue Jays pitching prospect Matt Boyd will make his major league debut on Saturday

John Lott of the National Post reports that the Blue Jays are calling up pitching prospect Matt Boyd from Triple-A Buffalo to start on Saturday against the Rangers. The Jays had been debating between tabbing Boyd or Felix Doubront for the start.

Boyd, 24, has dominated in the minors in 14 starts this season. In 12 starts with Double-A New Hampshire, the left-hander posted a 1.10 ERA with a 70/18 K/BB ratio in 73 2/3 innings. His most recent two starts have come with Buffalo. He allowed four runs (three earned) on 12 hits and zero walks with 12 strikeouts in 12 innings.
