Twins center fielder Byron Buxton stole his first base as a major leaguer on Sunday afternoon …

Buxton had 20 steals in 59 games at Double-A Chattanooga when the Twins promoted him on June 13. The 21-year-old top prospect entered play Sunday with just two hits in 24 major league plate appearances, but he’s already put his impressive defensive skills on display and he is capable of getting hot quickly at the dish.

Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were two of nine people who died in a helicopter accident in Calabasas, California earlier today. Bryant’s death sent shockwaves throughout the basketball world, as well as the sports world at large. Here were a few reactions from the baseball world.
