Martin Prado hasn’t made much progress from his right shoulder sprain, so the Marlins decided to place him on the 15-day disabled list today.
Prado suffered the injury when he tumbled over first base during Sunday’s game against the Rockies. He received an injection to help speed up the healing process, but he’s apparently not 100 percent yet and the Marlins didn’t want to go short-handed any longer.
Prado, 31, is batting .272/.311/.370 with four home runs and 24 RBI over 63 games this season while serving as Miami’s starting third baseman. Derek Dietrich and Donovan Solano figure to fill in during his absence.
