This season hasn’t gone according to plan for the Marlins so far, but there’s some good news right around the corner.
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, Jose Fernandez announced this evening that he plans to make his return to Marlins’ rotation on July 2 for a home start against the Giants.
Fernandez, now 15 months removed from Tommy John surgery, has a 5.62 ERA with six strikeouts and two walks in eight innings over his first two minor league rehab starts with High-A Jupiter. He projects to make three more starts in the minors before being activated.
Fernandez, 22, owns a brilliant 2.25 ERA over his first 36 starts in the majors. It’s going to be fun to have him back.
