Phillies add right-hander Kevin Correia on MLB contract

Veteran right-hander Kevin Correia, who opted out of a minor-league deal with the Giants last week, has signed a major-league deal with the Phillies.

He’ll join the team in Cincinnati in time for tonight’s game, so clearly it was a good decision by Correia and gets him from Triple-A back to the majors.

How long he’ll stay there is unclear, because Correia is 34 years old with a 4.59 career ERA and hasn’t posted an ERA under 4.00 since 2009. Last season he had a 5.44 ERA and 79/40 K/BB ratio in 154 innings for the Twins and Dodgers and his numbers at Triple-A for the Giants this season were underwhelming.
