Quadriceps injury sends Daniel Murphy to Mets’ disabled list

The hits just keep coming for the Mets, who finally decided to shift Daniel Murphy to third base once it became clear that David Wright isn’t going to return any time soon and have now placed Murphy on the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps.

Murphy was putting up his usual numbers before the injury, hitting .283 with four homers and a .749 OPS in 55 games split between second base and third base.

Without both Wright and Murphy the Mets are left with Ruben Tejada and Danny Muno in big roles.
