Dillon Gee returns from disabled list, Mets go to six-man rotation

Right-hander Dillon Gee is back from the disabled list after missing four weeks with a strained groin and the Mets are making room for his return by going to a six-man starting rotation.

Gee will start tonight versus the Padres and the Mets will hope he can pitch well enough to generate some trade interest, but in the meantime they opted against sending 22-year-old top prospect Noah Syndergaard back to the minors.

Gee had a 3.86 ERA in five starts before the injury, basically matching his 3.91 career ERA in 670 innings for the Mets since 2010.
