Tuffy Gosewisch likely dealing with a torn ACL

On Friday afternoon, the Diamondbacks placed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch on the 15-day disabled list with a left ACL injury. Gosewisch said to the media later, per MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert, that he’s likely dealing with an ACL tear, which would all but certainly end his season.

The Diamondbacks called up Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno to take Gosewisch’s spot on the roster. He signed a minor league deal on May 7, two days after he was released by the Marlins. In 33 plate appearances with the Marlins, “Salty” hit .069/.182/.207. He wasn’t having any better success at Reno, hitting¬†.188/.222/.375 in 36 PA.
