Daniel Nava goes on the disabled list with a sprained thumb

Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava is headed to the disabled list with a sprained thumb, which Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com reports “he’s been playing through for a while.”

Nava has struggled all season, hitting just .159 with zero homers in 27 games. Nava was previously a solid part-time player for the Red Sox, hitting .278 with good on-base skills and a .768 OPS from 2012-2014.

Boston has no shortage of outfielders, so by the time he gets healthy the Red Sox may not have much playing time available for Nava.
