Some more fallout from the Marlins firing manager Mike Redmond and replacing him with general manager Dan Jennings: Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that third base coach Brett Butler has been demoted after “confusion over signs” in recent games.

Lenny Harris has been named the new third base coach and Butler will apparently stay on Jennings’ staff as a baserunning/outfield coach.

Butler was added to Redmond’s staff last season and was presumed to be a candidate to replace him as manager before the Marlins made the controversial and oft-mocked decisision to move Jennings from the front office to the dugout.

Butler played 17 seasons in the majors and spent most of the past decade coaching and managing in the minors before joining the Marlins.
