Coco Crisp may be going back on the disabled list

Just two weeks after coming off the disabled list to make his season debut following elbow surgery A’s left fielder Coco Crisp may be headed back on the shelf.

This time it’s a neck injury suffered while diving for a ball in the outfield Tuesday. According to John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News “it seems likely he will miss” at least the remainder of this week and manager Bob Melvin “seemed unsure” when asked if a DL stint would be needed.

Crisp has been a mess at the plate since rejoining the A’s lineup, going 2-for-45 (.044), and the 35-year-old has had similar neck problems in the past. He’s under contract for $11 million this season and $11 million next season.
