Jace Peterson hit a grand slam for his first career home run

Braves second baseman Jace Peterson helped the Braves beat the Marlins 5-3 on Saturday afternoon, slugging a grand slam in the second inning off of starter Mat Latos. He entered the game homerless in 172 career plate appearances. Not a bad way to get on the board.

Peterson, who came over to the Braves from the Padres in the Justin Upton trade, hit only 14 home runs over 1,732 minor league plate appearances. That’s not quite at Ben Revere levels of powerlessness, but we shouldn’t expect to see the 25-year-old with double-digits in home runs at season’s end.
