Syndergaard also had a double and a single, so he finished the day 3-for-4. Who needs the DH, anyway?

As for his work on the mound, Syndergaard allowed two earned runs over eight innings while striking out eight and walking none. The 22-year-old now has a 1.82 ERA and 34/8 K/BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings over his first five starts this season. He’s knocking on the door for a call-up to the majors.
