Yasiel Puig leaves game after aggravating hamstring injury

Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig missed four games last week with a left hamstring injury and he was forced to leave last night’s game against the Padres after aggravating the injury.

It was an eventful night for Puig, who was hit in the left leg by a pitch in the first inning. He remained in the game, but then pulled up lame after grounding out to lead off the sixth inning and was removed. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com that Puig will be re-evaluated on Saturday, but he didn’t rule out the possibility of a stint on the disabled list.

“The DL is always on the table” when dealing with a re-injury, Mattingly said. “As of right now, there’s not much more we can do tonight.”

The Dodgers need to call up a starter for Sunday, so we could see a move soon. Andre Ethier, Scott Van Slyke, and the hot-hitting Alex Guerrero are all options to fill in for Puig.
