The Marlins have stumbled out of the gate with a disappointing 6-11 record, but they entered play today on a three-game win streak and here’s some good news about their rehabbing ace.
According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, Jose Fernandez is slated to throw to hitters next Thursday for the first time since his Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. He’s still under a year removed from the procedure, so everything is going according to plan with his rehab process. He obviously still has some hurdles to cross, but the Marlins are hopeful that he could be ready to return as early as mid-June.
Fernandez, 22, owns a 2.25 ERA with 10.3 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 over his first 36 starts in the majors.
