Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett is headed to the disabled list with a hand injury suffered while taking a shower in the clubhouse following Sunday’s game.
Gennett required stitches after slicing his hand open, posting a picture on Instragram and explaining that he was “trying to grab some body wash in the shower and sliced my finger on the bottom of the metal thing that holds the shampoo.”
He had expressed optimism about returning to the lineup in a day or two, but now he’ll be shut down for at least two weeks and the Brewers called up journeyman Elian Herrera from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
The lesson, always: Never shower. Or at least not in Pittsburgh.
